”The Music and the Istruments of the Middle Ages”

CONCERT-LESSON OF MEDIEVAL MUSIC with PROJECTION OF IMAGES for Schools and Tourist Groups

A concert of medieval music, with a thorough explanation of the musical instruments, faithful reconstructions of those of the period.

And a presentation of the PERMANENT EXHIBITION of “LUTES & STRING INSTRUMENTS FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO OUR DAYS” (collection Broegg). There are 20 different plucked string instruments (lutes, guinterne, guitars, bouzouki), reconstructed from different makers.

It will be possible to have, on request, a lecture-concert on thematic medieval Italian music (vocal and instrumental musical forms, style, from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century) as an alternative to a general European music.

Also, coming from our LIBRARY, we will bring the facsimile color of most beautiful and important musical manuscripts Italians, for an explanation of the art of writing: the Squarcialupi Code.

Concurrently with the music, you will be the PROJECTION of IMAGES, taken from paintings, frescoes and miniatures, especially from the Italian territory (if you choose this theme), where there are accurate depiction of scenes with music and musical instruments.

The instruments used are: portative organ, viola, rebec, lute, gittern, straight trumpets, tambourine, cymbals, pipe and tabor, medieval recorder, flute, double flute, shawn, bagpipe.

The duration of the lesson-concert is about an hour and a half.
